Year 4 used followed their designs to create their mosaic coaster. Some children found that they had to rethink their designs a little. All in the design process. They will now grout the tiles on their coasters next.

Mosaic designs
Year 4 looked at a variety of Roman mosaic designs. They then planned their mosaic designs, using colour to show what tiles they would use next week when they started using tiles to create a mosaic coaster.
Remembrance Day Art
Year 4 used earbuds to create a poppy piece of art in the style of Pointillism. Their art will be displayed in the COVID test centre in Newport.
Mosaic finger painting
Year 4 completed their geometric patterns last week. This week they used their fingers to act as tesserae instead of tiles. They for the most part painted their designs carefully, with some great work being produced.
Geometric designs
Year 4 chose a geometric design to copy. They identified the patterns that made up the whole design and copied it onto squared paper, in preparation for using their fingertips as tesserae. Next week, finger painting to create a different type of mosaic.
Paper Mosaics
The children continued with using paper as tesserae to create their own colourful geometric designs.
Roman mosaics
The children found out about what mosaics are and the features of a Roman Mosaics. They then started to create a paper mosaic using small blocks of coloured paper which they then arranged carefully and thoughtfully onto a geometric design. Very much work in progress.
